Gator Blitz: Recruiting Update 8/2

Gator Blitz is back, and we ask the question whats next for the Florida Gators? August is set to be a good month for UF, who is on commit watch?

It's been quite an eventful couple of weeks for the Florida Gators. UF has added four-star running back Adarius Lemons and three-star linebacker James Houston IV after a successful Friday Night Lights and then on Monday night, UF added one more pledge to the class, four-star cornerback Marco Wilson

So who is next? Are more commitments coming this month?

Amazing August?

This could be quite the month for Jim McElwain and his staff. There are a couple of decisions on tap and plenty of them are expected to go Florida's way.

Fred Hansard is expected to make a decision relatively soon, possibly in the next week. The four-star defensive tackle from New Jersey visited Florida for Friday Night Lights and left very high on Florida. I think the home state school, Rutgers, is UF's biggest competition, and although Hansard has stated he wanted to take one more visit before committing, the Hun School standout has made no visit. If I had to pick his destination this Tuesday, I would say Florida is in a very good spot.

Speaking of great spot, Brad Stewart and his family had a great time in Gainesville and the Gators are well positioned. The four-star corner is expected to make his decision on August 17, a timeline he is set after his successful visit for Friday Night Lights. Commit watch for sure.

Another defensive back to watch is Shawn Davis. The South Florida native has been on commit watch for quite a while, however, it looks like Davis is finally ready to make his decision this month. Anything apart from Florida would be shocking.

Moving on from Jeudy

Although UF did not land Jerry Jeudy, the four-star wide out chose Alabama last week, however, UF still has plenty of wide receivers on the board. Here is a look at some of the remaining targets UF is looking at.

Targets

This is hard battle between Michigan and Florida. The Gators seem confident with Donovan Peoples-Jones, however, so are the Wolverines. Other schools in the mix: Notre Dame, Alabama, Michigan State, Ohio State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC.

Henry Ruggs has a top five which consists of : Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Penn State, and Penn State. The Crimson Tide should be the favorites in his recruitment at the moment, however, the longer this stretches the door opens for UF.

OrTre Smith is still on the board for Florida. He recently visited the Clemson Tigers. The South Carolina native is also showing interest towards South Carolina, UNC and Georgia.

The Class

The Gators currently have 13 pledges, but that number could easily increase to 16 by the end of the month. With a 22-23 person class looking more likely, who are the guys to keep an eye on?

So of course offensive linemen are going to take a couple of spots. Right now the Gators are fighting to land the services of two guys committed elsewhere: Alex Leatherwood and Navaughn Donaldson. Other guys to watch out for for the final few spots: Devon HunterC.J. HendersonJarez ParksLaBryan RayRomello Martin, and Rahyme Johnson are just some of the names that are high on the board.

Now there is a flip watch happening as well: Kadarius Toney picked up an offer from Auburn this week. Although at the moment he is committed to UF, his relationship with the Tigers is one to watch.
