Gator Blitz: Recruiting Update 8/6

Here is a Saturday edition of Gator Blitz. Decisions, decisions, where are some of UF's top targets headed? Who is on commitment watch?

Decisions, decisions, plenty of them are coming this August and plenty of those deciding are Florida targets. Although on Tuesday's Gator Blitz, we touched on a few of these names, lets recap.

Fred Hansard is making his announcement sometime in the next week. This looks to be down to UF and Rutgers, although the Gators seem to be the team with the most momentum since his recent trip to Gainesville for Friday Night Lights.

Soon after Hansard, four-star cornerback, Brad Stewart, will be making his decision on his birthday, August 17. This is another decision that looks to be trending towards Florida still. The good news trend continue with South Florida native, Shawn Davis, who is set to announce on August 26.

Davis has visited Gainesville many times and has been on commitment watch the last few months. But here is a new name to the commitment watch, although not really.

If you've been following, you know that Zechariah Byrd has been on the fringe of commitment watch for a while, especially with the developments at Alabama -them taking a tight end for Texas and looking at another. Byrd has moved down their board and Florida has moved up on Byrd's list. His recruitment was always an Alabama/Florida battle, and UF now has the overwhelming momentum. There are reports out there that say Byrd could make his decision soon, as we've said, he could pop any day. If it's Saturday not shocking. He has been on the verge since his recent trips to both UF and Alabama in June.

Here are a few headlines to get you pumped for the fall:

  • Four-star cornerback, Shaun Wade is  hopes to visit Florida before the end of the month with his family, however, the Gators have some work to do. The Ohio State pledge wants to take an OV to OSU but he also hopes to take OVs to both Michigan and Notre Dame as well. The Irish has moved up the list for Wade since his recent trip to South Bend this summer. Alabama is still in the mix as well.
  • Four-star cornerback Ambry Thomas visited Gainesville this past week. Although the visit was successful and Thomas likes the depth chart at Florida, Michigan and Michigan State are the two schools to beat at the moment, particularly the Wolverines.
  • Four-star linebacker, Chris Allen hopes to take an OV to Florida.
  • Four-star LSU pledge, safety Grant Delpit also hopes to take an OV to see the Gators.
