A look at the O-Line board
This is an updated look at the offensive line board.
As far as where things stand with these targets, things are looking better with Kai-Leon Herbert the past few weeks, and it is a developing situation. The Gators are also doing well with both Navaughn Donaldson and Tony Gray. Alex Leatherwood, however, has not changed his status with Alabama and has not shown over interested in Florida since his spring game visit.
Jarez Parks Update
There is nothing new to report on Jarez Parks, simply because he does not talk too much. Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Clemson are the schools in the mix with the four-star defensive end. The Gators and the Crimson Tide are considered the favorite, however, Parks did choose to stay in Tuscaloosa an extra day instead of returning to Florida for Friday Night Lights. Although Bama are gaining confidence, an OV to Florida can quickly turn things around.
What is the updated class size?
I can see Florida take about 24 in this class.
What is the overall mood of the class? Is there camaraderie among the recruits?
The class seems to be quite happy with each other. There are some pledges that are closer rather than others, due to mostly geography, but they all really try to interact with each other through DM and text a lot.
How much influence will a strong season have on finalizing class? If so, at what positions?
A strong season will undoubtedly help bring in more talent. The Gators are going to fight a couple of battles until at least Christmas and some until National Signing Day. Some guys that will be waiting to make their final decisions: Shaun Wade, Devon Hunter, DeAngelo Gibbs, Alex Leatherwood, and C.J. Henderson are just some of the names to watch for later commitments.
Any interest in the JUCO LB Thomas that transferred from Bama?
I have not heard any connection between him and Florida so far.
The Wide Receiver Board
The Gators have one wide receiver pledge, Daquon Green. Green is as solid as can be with Florida, but when it comes to adding another wide receiver in this class there really isn't many in the conversation.
Donovan Peoples-Jones continues to be the wide out that Florida has its sights on eye. Although four-star Alabama native, Henry Ruggs, is still in the mix and is considering UF, many feel Ruggs is on his way to Alabama. Peoples-Jones, however, is not so easily dismissed away from Gainesville. The Michigan native is close to both in-state schools, especially the Wolverines, but has also shown a lot of interest to Florida. If Peoples-Jones does take an OV to Florida things for Michigan will not be so easy.
The Linebacker Board
I think the Gators are in the best position to land Rahyme Johnson at the moment. He does plan to take an official visit this fall to Florida, and is very close to pledge, Elijah Blades.
Update on Brad Stewart
Nothing new with Brad Stewart. He has stayed very quiet about his recruitment after backing off announcing. I think Florida remains heavily in the mix, but they will have some work to do for them to close on him right now. The four-star corner seems pretty adamant now that he does not want to rush things.
Update on Tyrone Truesdell
Nothing is new with the three-star defensive tackle since his trip to see Florida.
Truesdell seemed to like his trip to Florida and even considered committing on his visit, however, held out. He does plan to make another trip this fall and he could honestly make his pledge then.
Your odds than we land Hunter, Wade and/or Blades?
I think there is a VERY good chance with Devon Hunter. The five-star athlete and his mother loved his time in Gainesville and although Virginia Tech is trending, a good season by the Gators could sway things more.
Elijah Blades should be on the roster with Florida as along as his grades hold up. As far as Wades goes...
Are we still active recruiting Shaun Wade? Any chance to flip from OSU?
It is very likely that Shaun Wade will flip to another school and will not remain an Ohio State commit. However, although the Gators are still in the mix, Wade needs to visit Gainesville with his family. At the moment the schools really pushing for him are: Ohio State and Notre Dame. Michigan has also entered the mix more recently.
Any 2018 kids close to committing?
What is the updated commitment calendar? Are the Gators' expecting any to announce during the next few weeks?
There are no commitment dates scheduled right now.
Of the recruits that you interview, which is more important to them - early playing time or an opportunity to win a championship?
I think it's a little bit of both. I think early playing time is the biggest factor, because they want to say they were good enough to play as freshmen, however, they also want to play for a team that has tradition or has the ability to create one.
Are we in on ANY big time OL for 2018?
Is Florida interested in 4* OL Blake Vinson from North Marion and does Vinson have any interest in Florida? He's committed to Clemson but living that close to UF and possible playing time it seems like Florida could give him something to think about.
The Gators did recruit and offer Blake Vinson and even made a point to stop by his school during the spring evaluation period, however, it does not look like the Gators will pursue Vinson any more. They have the guys they are focused on right now.
