Injury Report: Callaway status unknown

Jim McElwain talked injuries at his weekly presser on Monday and for the most part, the Gators are pretty healthy. There is some doubt on the prospects of sophomore All-American receiver Antonio Callaway will be available Saturday, but for the most part it was a pretty positive injury report.

McElwain said Saturday after the 45-7 win over that Antonio Callaway had a quad injury and his status was up in the air. On Monday, McElwain clarified that Callaway won’t be at practice on Monday and his status afterward is still up in the air.

“Callaway, I’m a little nervous about with his leg. We’ll see how that plays out as the week goes on.”

Freshman receiver Tyrie Cleveland will miss this week as he will go back to healing a pulled hamstring injury that kept him out of most of fall drills.

“Tyrie Cleveland will be out, McElwain said. “Pulled that string again and that is just one of those we have to get better and keep working on it.”

Senior running back Mark Herndon was also hurt, but looks to be minor, “Played great but will be limited this week.”

Sophomore right tackle Fredrick Johnson sprained his ankle in the contest and his status is questionable as we move through the practice week.

“We’ll see how he’s moving,” McElwain said. “It was a pretty significant ankle injury, but I will give it to Fred, he did a really outstanding job of competing and wanting to be on the first team.

Sophomore guard Tyler Jordan will be held out of practice for an unknown issue. McElwain isn’t sure when Jordan will return but and said he has, “some things that have to be checked out. We’ll let you guys know more later this week, but he won’t go today (Monday)”.

We will continue to follow the injuries during the week and have the rest of McElwain's comments up on Fightin' Gators shortly.
