Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor says the Gators have some work to do ahead of their SEC showdown against LSU next week.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor discusses the Gators' 13-6 win over Vandy and how this team can move forward from its struggles.

The mood in the Florida locker room on Saturday was certainly brighter after the game on Saturday.

“It was very good," said Gators cornerback Jalen Tabor.  "This is a SEC team, this is a SEC road victory. It’s a good mood. We just swallow this one and get ready for LSU coming into the Swamp."

This a stark contrast to how the team felt just one week prior. Tabor and company were able to shake off their loss to Tennessee to grab the 13-6 win over Vanderbilt - their first road win of the season.

"It’s a win but we’ve got some work to do," said Tabor. "We’ve been playing good ball. Give credit to Vandy. I bet if this was Alabama we just played and we won like that it would have been a great win. It would have been, ‘oh it was sloppy but it was great.’ Since it was Vandy it’s a sloppy win. No. It’s a SEC opponent. We’ll be straight.

“A win is a win in college football. You never know what can happen. A win is a win in college football. You take them win or lose. You win by one point, 40 points, it’s a win no matter who you beat.”

Florida head coach Jim McElwain admitted he was happy the team was able to scrap together a win, however, he did not like the team's lack of physical play.

“We gotta get a lot tougher," agreed Tabor. "Give credit to Vandy though. People just think it’s Vandy but it’s not really Vandy. Those guys came out, played hard, they came out and controlled the line of scrimmage very well. It’s still a good team. We got to get a lot better especially with LSU, that’s what they are going to want to come in and do. The Leonard Fournette show. We know they want to hand the ball to him a lot.”

Tabor earned the right to put his name on the board this week, after picking up his third interception this season.

“I was just playing ball. Really just playing ball, reading the quarterback. It happened so fast I want to see it on film," he said. “It goes back to just me working hard in the offseason, preparation really. I feel like if I put myself in the right situations I feel like I’m a good player and a better player than a lot of the guys we play against, so if I put myself in the right situations I’ll make a lot of plays.”

With the Tigers on the their way to The Swamp next week, Tabor will be hitting the film room very soon.

“I’m looking for a great matchup. They have some pretty good guys out wide, we have some pretty good guys out wide. It’s going to be a tough one," he said. "“We just gotta come out swinging. When the game starts I feel like we just gotta come out swinging. There’s nothing about how you prepare, when the game start the game start.”
