This one was going to be difficult with a noon start at The Swamp, but the Florida staff has rallied and gotten the good word from several high profile targets this early in the week. Stay tuned as we update the list as the week goes on.
The Gators would rather have official visits after the season, but sometimes that just isn’t an option and so some prospects will take their turn visiting Florida during the season. This week the Gators are expecting a couple of official visitors for the LSU contest.
The Skinny: This will be the third trip to Gainesville for Donovan Peoples-Jones and he is priority one still left on the board for the Gators at the current time. He’s a spectacular athlete and all the way from Michigan will be a hard draw. But, visiting twice on his own dime and then making this trip has to be a real positive for the Gators.
The Skinny: Florida will likely lose all three starting linebackers after the season. The need for the position is a huge one. Hines is being recruited by Randy Shannon and Shannon has done pretty well in Texas already. The Gators have a lot of ground to cover, but getting him on campus would be a huge step in the right direction.
The Skinny: The Gators feel solid about all of these guys. Now they need these guys to help recruit while on their visit. That is a whole lot of Gator love to go around if they can coordinate it well.
UNOFFICIALS NOT COMMITTED
The Skinny: The Auburn commitment visited Georgia last weekend and will make the trip to Florida for this weekend. He’s a terrific athlete that can play all over the field and will have his eyes open while on the trip to Florida.
The Skinny: He’s a big time receiver who most peg for Alabama… and he’s from Alabama. He’s certainly a prospect Florida wants, but seems more of a stretch at this point than even Peoples-Jones. Getting him to visit is again a step in the right direction.
The Skinny: The Michigan commitment has been to Florida several times. He hasn’t said anything publicly, but behind the scenes his commitment to the Wolverines is said to be wavering. This trip should go a long way in his recruitment with the Gators.
The Skinny: The Florida State commitment came to every Florida home game a year ago. He lives just outside of Gainesville and so the trip is easy. There is no telling how many times he has visited. Defensive tackle is a huge need for the Gators, so it will be interesting to see how they approach Durden this time around.
The Skinny: This is an excellent group of 2018 prospects for a class in which the gators don’t have a single commitment. A few on here may very well be leaning to the gators at this time, so a real positive atmosphere could go a long way.
