Herring Sets Visit to Florida

Chris Herring has set up an official visit to Florida. He is one of the South's top defensive prospects.

Chris Herring is one of the top prospects from the Magnolia State. Herring, 6-2 and 260 pounds, plays for one of the state's best teams, Batesville (Miss.) South Panola. Herring is being recruited by just about all of the Southern football powers and he has narrowed it down to a select few.

"I really likes Ole Miss, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia," said Herring. "I will officially visit Florida (9-29), LSU (10-20), Auburn (11-17), Tennessee (11-24) and Georgia (12-7). I want to take these visits and see what these schools are like. I have been to Ole Miss and Mississippi State enough to know what those players are like. It is hard to say who I like the best because I have not seen all that much from these schools. That is what these visits are for."

In their most recent game, Herring and his teammates took on blue-chipper Darren Williams and Clarksdale. South Panola won 13-6. "It was a good game and Darren is a good athlete. I was disappointed I didn't get any good licks on him."
