2017 S Devon Hunter (Gabe Brooks/SCOUT)

A look at where Florida stands with its defensive targets left on its board.

Part two of our Gator Gauge series, where we focus on the other side of the ball. Where are things trending with some of the biggest Florida targets on defense?

Trend:

Schools Involved: Virginia Tech, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, Ole Miss  and Auburn

Update: Nothing has really changed with Devon Hunter as far as which schools are standing out. Hunter did announce on Tuesday night that he will announced on Jan. 20, however, did not rule out taking his official visits to Alabama or Auburn [which would occur after his commitment]. Hunter is set to take his visit to Florida this weekend and has already taken visits to Virginia Tech and UNC. The Hokies still look to be the favorite in this recruitment.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Maryland, Florida

Update: With Mike London's departure from Maryland to coach at Howard some defensive line pledges for the Terps are looking at different options. Cam Spence is a late addition to the defensive tackle board for the Gators and he is scheduled to be in Gainesville this weekend.  Although those up north believe he is solid with the Terps, anything can happen when he arrives on campus.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Alabama, Florida State, Auburn and Florida

Update: Jarez Parks continues to be hard to pin down. Many felt Florida was in the drivers seat early in his recruitment, however, then the momentum shifted towards Alabama for the four-star defensive end. Parks is set to visit the Gators this weekend and Auburn this month. The Crimson Tide seems to be everyone's pick at the moment. He would be a take even if they pick up LaBryan Ray as well.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Ole Miss

Update: Speaking of Ray, the battle for the four-star continues. He is set to visit Tennessee this weekend and then visit Alabama and Florida the follow two weekends. Many believe the Crimson Tide is the favorite, however, the Gators are definitely one to watch, especially with Ray visiting on the final weekend.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Maryland, Florida

Update: Breyon  and Brandon Gaddy both committed during their official visit to Maryland in December, however, with Mike London leaving the program (their main recruiter at Maryland) things shifted for the brothers. They are set to visit Florida on Jan. 27 and will definitely be on flip watch.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Baylor, Georgia, Kentucky and Ole Miss

Update: Things certainly picked up for Tedarrell Slaton, once Florida started recruiting him on defense. The five-star is set to visit Florida on Jan. 20 and all signs are point to UF as the leader.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Miami, Colorado and Louisville

Update: A one time Miami and Louisville pledge, Brian Edwards has now set a visit to Florida for the final weekend in Jan. This could end up being a battle between the Cardinals and the Gators.

http://www.scout.com/college/florida/player/187856-tyrone-truesdell

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Louisville and Ole Miss

Update: Things have not changed for Tyrone Truesdell. The defensive tackle continues to list Florida as a favorite and is set to visit the Gators on Jan. 20.

http://www.scout.com/college/florida/player/204342-levi-jones

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Florida State, USC, UCLA and Texas A&M.

Update: Things started to trend up with Levi Jones when the four-star linebacker set his official visit to Florida for this weekend. Jones' father and UF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon have known each other for years [Shannon coached the father at the Miami Dolphins]. However, do not sleep on FSU, who Jones admitted was actually his father's favorite during his interview at Under Armour. Jones is expected to visit the Noles on the final weekend. No word yet on which other visits he will take.

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Alabama, and Miami

Update: Christopher Henderson has been trending towards UF for a while now and nothing seems to have changed. He is set to visit Alabama this weekend and then UF the following weekend.

http://www.scout.com/college/florida/player/200258-eric-stokes

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Georgia

Update: Eric Stokes is a new name on the board. He is set to take an OV to Florida this weekend. The Gators do have plenty of DBs on the board, however. According to Chad Simmons, Ole Miss looks like the favorite and Iowa State the  dark horse.

http://www.scout.com/college/florida/player/200926-brad-stewart

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Arkansas, and Arizona State

Update: Brad Stewart is set to visit all the schools mentioned above in the next month but will take his final visit to Florida. Tim Skipper has done a good job with Stewart and UF should feel very confident.

http://www.scout.com/player/199966-elijah-conliffe

Trend:

Schools Involved: Florida, Florida State, USC, UCLA and Texas A&M.

Update: Things are constantly changing with Elijah Conliffe. The four-star defensive tackle has already taken his official to Penn State, which was the favorite in the fall, and he has a visit tentatively scheduled to Alabama on Jan. 27. Another possible visit for the four-star defensive tackle is to Florida on Jan. 20. He is not expected to visit Miami on Jan. 13 anymore. This one will come down whether or not he does visit. Tennessee and Ole Miss are in it as well, however, unless he takes an OV to UF this is an Alabama vs. PSU battle.
