"I had a great time," said Malik Davis, after his official visit to Florida "Me and my future teammates and everyone that is committed [had fun]. I've been talking to them before the visit but it was my first time meeting them in person. It was a great feeling. We had a great time."
Davis spent this past weekend learning more about his future Florida squad. In addition to those players already on the roster, the three-star running back pledge was able to enjoy the time with fellow commits, Daquon Green, Zachary Carter, Jake Allen, Marco Wilson, and T.J. Moore
"I think the class is pretty strong," said Davis. "We definitely have a great bond. I think better than any other group that is committed to another school."
This great bond among the pledges, allowed the group to really focus on recruiting others on the visits that were not committed elsewhere, including: Tedarrell Slaton, Christopher Henderson, Nick Smith, and Elijah Conliffe.
"I think all the guys that were uncommitted, we had a great time together, getting the feel for the everyday life there after talking to the players and hanging out with the coaches," said Davis. "I think we have a great chance getting all those guys."
The time spend with the current Gators players was the reason this visit was so beneficial for Davis himself.
"Getting to see the players' every day life besides football, and seeing how they live and then seeing how I will live for the next three or four years or for however long I'm there was great"
Lamical Perine, his host for the weekend, also helped him understand his role as freshman back fighting for playing time.
"He told me just come in and work hard on and off the field, in the classroom too, and I would be on the field, no problem."
"They just feel I'm a different back than what they have. They said I will be able to get on the field easy," explained Davis. "They said I'm an every down back so I don't have to come out for any plays. So thats big."
This visit only reaffirmed Davis' pledge to the Gators. Although schools like National Champions, Clemson, have come calling recently, Davis only has one school in mind.
"We are building something over at Florida, especially since coach Mac got there. You can tell that something great is happening," he said. "This class, this is going to make what we are building stronger."
National signing day could not come quick enough for this Gators commit.
"I'm just ready to get up there and compete and get on the field."
