This weekend is the last chance Florida has to impress those left on its board. The Gators are set to host a plethora of targets this weekend including some big time names.
No doubt K'Lavon Chaisson is the big headliner this weekend. The five-star defensive end is also considering LSU and Texas and it seems like those two schools are the two favorites. This trip will need to seriously impress the Scout 100 standout in order to sway Chaisson towards UF.
The Gators are also set to welcome another big time pass rusher, LaBryan Ray.
The four-star defensive end has been trending towards Alabama for most of his recruitment. Tennessee and Florida remain in the mix with the Gators being the biggest threat to the Crimson Tide.
Once again the Gators are also focusing on reinforcing their depth at defensive tackle. The Gators are not only welcoming Breyon and Brandon Gaddy, the brothers from Virginia Beach, Va., but they are also welcoming four-star defensive tackle Devante Wyatt. At this time the Gaddy brothers are the most likely to sign for Florida on signing day. The Maryland pledges have often voiced their appreciation for the Gators program and are on flip watch.
On the other hand, it seems like a two-horse race between South Carolina and Georgia for Wyatt. The Peach State defender is committed to the Bulldogs and this would be his first trip to Gainesville.
Another position the Gators have been focusing their attentions on is defensive back. Florida is set to welcome a few this weekend including: four-star cornerback Brad Stewart, three-star safety Brian Edwards, three-star Houston pledge Donovan Stiner. The Gators could realistically move the needle with each of these guys.
Stewart has always been considered a Florida lean, while Stiner picked up an offer from UF this week and did not waste time setting up an official. UF has a very good chance at flipping the Houston commit during this trip. Meanwhile, Edwards will be a bit more of a challenge. Although Edwards does note a good relationship with UF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon, the Hurricanes are feeling very confident after Edwards took his official to Coral Gables last weekend.
Rambo is considered a pretty solid Sooners pledge, so at this time a lot of things need to happen before he could be considered a possible flip. Meanwhile, things are still in the air with Hillery. Earlier in the week during chat I mentioned him as a possible visitor, but then it seemed like the visit was not going to happen. But now the visit looks like it is going ahead.
Another offensive playmaker set to visit is Adarius Lemons. Lemons has been working on things off the field and inside the classroom, so he may be an option for Florida.
In addition to its targets the Gators are also set to host tight end pledge Zech Byrd. The Alabama native has been connected to Florida since the summer and he has been solid throughout the process.
Finally, the Gators are set to welcome a third pass rusher this weekend, Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald. This is a newer name to the board, since the Gators only received an offer from UF this week. He is set to arrive on Sunday, however.
The Gators will also hit the road today for a big visit. Jim McElwain is set to see wide receiver target James Robinson. The wide out is set to choose between UF, Ole Miss, Ohio State and Oklahoma.
