Four Star LB Likes UF

Linebacker Javier Estopinan is one of the top defensive recruits from Dade County in South Florida and he is eyeing the Gators and the Gators are eyeing him.

Javier Estopinan is a four star linebacker recruit from Miami (Fla.) South Miami High School. Estopinan, 6-3 and 230 pounds, recorded 110 tackles, 5 sacks and 2 interceptions as a junior playing middle linebacker. He is looking for a big senior season.

"I feel great," Estopinan said. "I am bigger, stronger and faster than last season. I just want to go out and play hard and win."

Estopinan, the state champion in wrestling, is close to setting up his official visits. At least for now, he knows his top five college choices, although he does not have a leader.

"Right now I like Ohio State (camp), NC State (camp), Florida, Florida State and Miami. I don't have a leader. Next week, I hope to set up some official visits.

"I love the defense at Ohio State. They seem to play a unique system. I like the coaching staff, stadium and their football tradition.

"NC State has brand new facilities and the program is going up and up. They have beaten FSU two years in a row and they have a lot of players from South Florida.

"The Gators seem to be rebuilding. They have a young team and I think could fit in well there.

"Miami is a team with great talent and they win national championships. They must be doing something right.

"FSU was always my favorite team growing up. They have such a great program. Although Coach (Bobby) Bowden may retire soon I would love to play for him because he is a coaching legend."

This weekend, Estopinan plans on attending the Florida/ Miami game in the Orange Bowl.
