Brad Stewart chose the Gators over other finalists: Arizona State and Arkansas. The Gators seemed to lead for the four-star cornerback throughout most of his recruitment. The top defensive back was very close to pulling the trigger back in the summer, however, decided to put recruiting on the back burner until after his senior season. Stewart's final official visit was to Gainesville which sealed the deal for Stewart and his family. His main recruiter was UF assistant Tim Skipper.
“Florida puts out a lot of DBs,” Stewart said. “I’ll be walking into a place that puts out a lot of DBs in the league. And with the guys they’re losing, I’ll have a chance to go in and play.”
"Stewart has a very good feel for the game, for his position and he is a very instinctive player," said National Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons. "He is a player who will take chances and he trusts his ability to recover in coverage. His frame and length are both valuable in coverage and against the run. He is a solid tackler. He likes to come in low, chop tackle at the knees, and that is solid, but he can still improve his wrapping up technique. He has lined up all over in coverage, and one thing he does very well is play with his eyes. He keeps his head up, he reads the quarterback often and he makes a lot of plays on the ball. He may not be that elite, quick-twitch athlete, but he reacts well, he trusts himself and he could be another top defensive back for Florida in the coming years."
