Davis was an under the radar running back throughout most of his recruitment. School started to noticed the three-star running back a little later in the process and soon Miami North Carolina propelled themselves to the top of the pile. Many believed the Tar Heels were the team to bear, however, that was before Florida offered Davis. Once the Gators offered things progressed quickly with the Tampa native soon committing to Jim McElwain and his staff in October - not long after picking up the offer.
"They just feel I'm a different back than what they have. They said I will be able to get on the field easy," explained Davis. "They said I'm an every down back so I don't have to come out for any plays. So thats big."
"We are building something over at Florida, especially since coach Mac got there. You can tell that something great is happening," he said. "This class, this is going to make what we are building stronger."
"Davis is a smooth, north-south runner that shows good acceleration to pull away, but also shows the patience leading up to that burst to the end zone," said Scout Analyst Corey Bender. He's a long strider that racks up chunks of yardage in a hurry. Davis is a workhorse and natural when it comes to carrying the pigskin, and his more than 5,000 career rushing yards does nothing but back it up.
"Overall pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield are areas of improvement moving forward, but there's no doubting Davis' ability as a pure runner," added Bender. "This is a self-assured prospect and competitor that doesn't shy away from competition."
