In the fall it looked like a Alabama, Penn State battle for the four-star defensive tackle from Hampton, Virginia. However, in late December things changed. Florida's on campus recruiting coordinator John Herron and UF assistant Chris Rumph extended an offer to Conliffe. Soon Scout's No. 21 DT scheduled an OV to UF for the second weekend in January and things began to trend towards Florida. The Gators beat out the Vols, who also came in later in the game. Conliffe committed one day before signing day.
"Florida is the total package," said Conliffe after his commitment. "Academically, it's very strong, and they provide great support for the players. It's also a great football program and I've always wanted to play in the SEC."
"I liked it -- I really like how they do things," said the 6-foot-4, 305-pound Conliffe, after his official visit to Florida. "My favorite part of the visit was hanging out with the coaches and players. The players said it's a great place to go to school. The coaches let me know that they really needed defensive tackles and that they would love to have me."
"He has a great combination of size and athleticism. Conliffe is extremely physical and very strong at the point of attack. The Hampton standout has quick, active hands, and does a nice job shedding blockers," said Recruiting Analyst Michael Clark.
"Conliffe is most effective playing downhill, but also changes directions fluidly, and can play sideline to sideline when needed," Clark added. "He plays fast, but under control, and does a nice job of putting himself in position to make plays. He also has a good motor and is relentless."
