Where does UF stand?

Florida played one heck of a game on Saturday night against Miami. They had the 'Canes on the ropes but couldn't punch them out. How will this loss affect recruiting? FightinGators.com caught up with wide receiver Doug Dutch and asked him where the Gators fit into his recruiting plan?

Wide receiver Doug Dutch is a four-star recruit and a member of TheInsiders.com National Hot 100. Dutch, from Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga High School, has 23 scholarship offers so far but he has pretty much narrowed things down to a few lucky schools.

"Right now, I like Miami (12-6), Florida (1-9), Tennessee, Michigan (12-13) and Virginia (11-29). They have all offered.

"I really like Virginia (camp), their coaches, especially Coach (Al) Groh. They have been recruiting me very hard and I have been down there a few times.

"I love the legacy at Miami. They really teach their kids the game and put them in the NFL.

"Tennessee also puts a ton of guys in the league and they have a good school. I just don't know them like I know some of these other coaches.

"The Michigan WR coach (Campbell) is recruiting me and he seems like a great guy. They didn't sign any wide receivers last season but they want to take three this year. Michigan is throwing more now too.

"I camped at Florida and that was probably the best camp. They had some great players there. I also got to know the coaches pretty well. Coach (Mike) Locksley was a Maryland before so I have known him a while. I also spoke with Coach (Ron) Zook. I grew up always liking Florida and they pass the ball a lot. They were very impressive last night and I wouldn't mind hooking up with (Chris) Leak. That was such a great game last night. I couldn't believe Miami came back. Florida was impressive and I was kind of shocked how well they played and how badly they were beating Miami."

Dutch, 6-0 and 190 pounds, has obviously done his homework thus far with the recruiting process. He knows the coaches, depth charts and the wide receiver situation at each school he is looking at.

"I have done my homework. Maryland, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame are still in the picture. I will basically go on an overall feeling about the school. I will follow my gut. I have a good feeling about the coaching staffs. I also want to see how they can develop me as a player because I want to make it to that next level. Playing early would be nice too."
