With the Florida Relays in town, Jamien Sherwood made the second trip to Florida and made sure to stop in and see what was going on with the football program. The usual tours and watching practice was part of the trip and afterward he was able to reflect on the experience.
“It’s a great place to be at,” Sherwood said Sunday afternoon. “It’s nice from the environment to the people.”
On the visit he met up with Florida assistant Ja’Juan Seider who recruits his area and got to see defensive back coach Corey Bell in action coaching the secondary in a scrimmage atmosphere.
“We talk about football, life, and how our families are doing,” he said of talks with Seider over the weekend.
He wasn’t able to talk with Bell, but has in the past.
“Not this round,” he said. “But the first time we spent time talking some things. I got to see him coach and it’s intense.”
He says the Florida staff likes what they see in his ability to play in the secondary and maybe play at different positions.
“(They like) how versatile I am, how long I am,” he said. “How I can play multiple positions for them to help.”
So where do the Gators stand right now with Sherwood?
“I like Florida a lot,” he said. “It’s great sports and academic wise along with some other colleges. I can see myself there.”
“No favorites really. Everybody is lined up right now.”
Up next for Sherwood? He will visit the Vols this coming weekend.
“I am going to Tennessee this weekend, April 8,” he said.
