"First and foremost I'd like to thank the University of Florida for everything that it has done for me since I've been here," wrote Reed. "I'd like to thank coach [Will] Muschamp for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to come here, and I'd also like to thank coach [ Jim McElwain] and his coaching staff for everything that they have done for me since they've been here.
"But with that being said I think it is in my best it is in my best interest (sic) after talking it over with my family that I transfer and try to find a new home for the next few years. Thank you GatorNation you've been nothing but great."
Reed signed with the Gators in 2014 from Clearwater Central Catholic, where he was an All-State player. The red-shirt freshman appeared in 11 games in three years at UF, appearing in two games last season due to injuries. He recorded two quarterback hurries in last year's campaign and ends his career as a Gator with nine tackles and two tackles fora loss.
Reed has two years of eligibility remaining but would forfeit one season if he chooses to transfer to a FBS school due to NCAA rules.
