The Florida coaches are set to hit the road for the spring evaluation period. Here is a look at were things stand with a few of their offensive targets on the board:
It is no secret, Justin Fields is Florida's big target on offense. Fields is currently committed to Penn State. The four-star quarterback is hearing plenty from the Gators. FSU is also in hot pursuit, however, UF is the team looked at as the biggest threat to the Nittany Lions.
The Gators recently offered Jarren Williams, who is currently committed to Kentucky. Other schools that have also entered the mix include SEC Champions, Alabama. Williams maintains that he is solid to Kentucky and will not name any other favorites. Florida is interested.
Joe Milton's stock rose tremendously after his performance in camps in March. The Gators are in the mix, however, after the big news of the offer things have cooled down.
**Commit**Jalynn Williams committed to Florida in January. He has continued to raise his stock and remains solid to the Gators.
**Commit** Corey Gammage was Florida's fourth pledge after the spring game. The wide receive chose the Gators over other offers including from: Auburn, Miami, Rutgers, Virginia Tech and Syracuse.
Jacob Copeland is a frequent visitor to Florida and many believe the Gators are the team to beat. Clemson was the school UF was fighting off for the last few months, however, the Tigers have been eliminated by the Scout 300 wide receiver and is now down to five schools: Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. The Tigers are the team that are Copeland often lists as a top two with UF.
Florida remains the team to beat for Anthony Schwartz. The wide receiver from American Heritage recently visited Florida for the spring game and continues to heap praise on the program. He also recently visited Auburn and Georgia. He wants to run track and play football at the next level.
Although Warren Thompson has often visited Gainesville, Florida State is a favorite to land the wide out currently.
Another name Florida likes in this group is Justyn Ross. The wide out does hold in-state programs like Auburn and Alabama high on his list, however, UF is in the mix.
Kearis Jackson has expressed plenty of interest. Florida has plenty of wide receivers on its board that we would place on ahiger priority but the interest remains there.
Asa Martin is Florida's top remaining running back target. The Alabama native has Florida high on his list and the Gators should feel good about their chances. Auburn remains in the mix as well, but a decision could be coming relatively soon and UF should be considered the favorite.
The No. 17 running back in the 2018 class, made recent visits to West Virginia, Tennessee and Florida, and he is talking aplenty to North Carolina, Rutgers, Syracuse and Maryland. Leddie Brown seems to favor WVU at the moment, but this could go in any direction.
Lavonte Valentine is a running back Florida is interested in and the the in-state back has mutual interest. This recruitment looks like a battle between South Carolina and UF.
**Commit** Iverson Clement committed to the Gators last week and wants to sign with Florida in December.
William Barnes is one of the top offensive lineman in the country and is a frequent visitor to Gainesville. The Apopka native is often saying that UF is a top school, especially after establishing a connection with new offensive line coach Brad Davis. Ohio State and North Carolina are other schools that are pushing Barnes, however, the Gators are now looked at as the team to beat.
Richard Gouraige recently names UF a leader after his recent visit to Gainesville. Auburn, Clemson and UNC are also in the mix, however, it looks like Davis and company are doing enough to keep this Scout 300 lineman in-state.
Nick Petit-Frere is another name the Gators would love to add to this class. He visited Gainesville in January and things are trending better for the in-state program. Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Auburn are schools also in the mix for the four-star standout.
Curtis Dunlap Jr. told Scout that "Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Mississippi" are the schools recruiting him the hardest." Although the IMG standout has said the Gators are a top school since he has family members that have followed the program for most of his life, the Canes seem like the team to beat.
Christian Armstrong has visited Florida often, however, the Gators have plenty of competition from Auburn, Penn State, Tennessee and Florida State. Many point to FSU as the team with the light edge.
John Campbell picked up an offer from Florida after a visit and the Gators remain in the mix. UF should be confident in their standing with the Orlando native, although Miami is also a school that is often mentioned with the Dr. Phillips standout.
Reuben Unije is another offensive lineman with Florida in the driver's seat. The IMG lineman has visited Gainesville plenty of times but has not named an outright leader.
**Commit**Although listed as a offensive tackle on Scout, the Gators see Jalen Goss as a tight end. As Gammage he committed after his visit during the spring game weekend.
Judge Culpepper is a Florida legacy and the Gators are a school heavily favorited to land the tight end from Plant Senior high school. He recently visited LSU and is expected to visit Penn State and Nebraska next.
Florida, Notre Dame, Georgia, and Wisconsin are the schools trending for George Takacs.
