A quick glance at the latest Florida recruiting news and headlines.

Gator Blitz rounds up the biggest recruiting news surrounding the Florida football program this week.

The first week of the spring evaluation period is in the books so whats next for Florida? Where do things stand? This week FightinGators.com broke down a few of the names on both the offensive and defensive boards:

Now these names may change. There will be some that will move out of the board as others move into it like running back Dameon Pierce

The Gators went to visit the four-star Alabama commit this week and there are some in Tuscaloosa that are starting to believe his pledge is not as solid as expected. Pierce has already visited Alabama this spring and is set to visit Georgia next. Florida is another school heavily in contention here. Although UF has Iverson Clement in the class already and is in a good spot with Asa Martin, Pierce is one that UF will heavily pursue moving forward - and the big thing is Pierce is listening.

Another new name to keep your ming on is Caleb Tannor

The defensive end from Georgia received an offer from Florida on Friday morning, and he is a player that is expected to move up the rankings a lot when the rankings are updated on Scout. He is also going to being moving on the board for Florida. At the moment Tannor holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan State, Mississippi State and Tennessee just to name a few.

The Quarterback Question?

The two biggest positions I get the most questions on are the quarterbacks and the offensive line. Lets break down the signal callers a little bit with what we have been hearing:

Justin Fields is undoubtedly Florida's number one target at the position. The four-star quarterback, who is committed to Penn State, rarely likes talking about other schools. However, Florida is one school that is consistently tied with the NIttany Lions pledge. At this time it seems like the Gators and FSU are the two schools making the biggest push to land Fields. However, according to sources up north, Penn State still feels very confident they can keep Fields in this class. The Georgia native is planning to early enroll so this recruitment will not be pushed until signing day, so the next few months will be crucial to his recruitment. Fields is heading to Penn State this weekend. Also of note with Fields, the feeling is that his family is happy with his choice of program.

When Florida offered Joe Milton it seemed more like a when rather than if he was going to join Jim McElwain's 2018 class, however, things have turned. Although the Gators are still heavily in the mix with Michigan and Georgia, his recent visit to Ann Arbor has pushed the Wolverines ahead as the favorite. Milton is visiting UGA next. His decision could be coming soon and if it does in fact come within the next week, Michigan looks to be the safe bet.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson is a name Gators' fans remember from last year's Friday Night Lights. He impressed the coaches and is a signal caller the staff was very excited about, however, after a successful trip to Gainesville last summer, things have not gone according to plan. The Las Vegas native looks like he will remain on the west coast for college. He is set to choose between Michigan and UCLA on Sunday and it looks like the Bruins are going to be the choice.

Jarren Williams is an interesting name to pop up in recent weeks. He does hold a Florida offer and although he is committed to Kentucky, that commitment does not seem firm. He has plenty of new suitors like Alabama now and he is taking visits. This one will depend on those trips. He has plenty of new offers, it just depends on which ones he is able to visit this spring and summer.

The Trenches

There is really nothing new when it comes to Florida's offensive line targets. As I noted in the offensive board, the Gators are in a very good position with several of their top prospects. Four-star in-state linemen, Richard Gouraige and William Barnes should be considered healthy Gator leans. In all fairness any of them could pop for Florida and the UF staff want both of them. On the flip side, John Campbell looks like a Miami lean at the moment, while Nick Petit-Frere also seems like he is trending away from Gainesville.

Upcoming Visits

There are several programs that are holding spring games or big recruiting weekends the next few days, and several Florida targets will be on the road. Here is a very quick break down where some of Florida's top targets will be this weekend:
