Golden Gophers commit Terell Smith discusses his SEC offer from Florida.

Terell Smith added another SEC offer on Wednesday when the Gators came calling. Florida is the latest program to offer the Minnesota cornerback pledge, but does this offer change things for the Georgia native?

Terell Smith committed to Minnesota two months ago, but that still has not stopped other schools to continue knocking in hopes of landing the speedy cornerback from Georgia. On Wednesday, Florida was the latest school to offer the South Gwinnett High School playmaker.

"It feels good. It is a big time offer," he said. "I wasn't expecting it at all."

Gators defensive back coach Corey Bell was the one that extended the scholarship offer to the three-star 2018 prospect.

"I know he is a great coach because he sends guys to the NFL. But I don't know him too much yet," said Smith.

Although he might not know much about Bell, the Peach State's No. 7 cornerback in the class knows the Gators' reputation of helping cornerbacks move further in their football career.

"I just know they are a successful program," he stated. "They could put several CBs in the league every year."

Florida's DBU reputation certainly grabbed his attention, however, Smith continues to remain steady.

"It is a great offer but I'm still 100 percent solid to Minnesota," he said. "I don't know if I am taking any visits yet...I tell other schools I'm 100 percent committed to Minnesota but they still contact me and they still offer me but they know I am 100 percent Minnesota."

According to Smith, the Golden Gophers have done well welcoming him into the program and demonstrating where he can fit into the team's scheme.

"The coaches, the defense they run,  the family atmosphere, they are all reasons I am solidly committed. I just feel like I fit," explained Smith. "The defensive scheme they run, the press man, that is the type of defense I like. That is what we usually run here at my high school.. I am planning to visit there over the summer."

Smith also plans on taking advantage of the early signing period and will put pen to paper in December, however, he says he doest not have plans to early enroll at this time.
