Scout 150 wide receiver Warren Thompson discusses his latest visit to Florida

Warren Thompson made his return to Gainesville on Sunday. The Scout 150 wide receiver is set to announce a top two sometime soon. Did Florida do enough on his latest visit?

“The coaches were happy to see me and told me how they would love to get my mom up and that I would be a big piece for them,” said Warren Thompson about his weekend visit to Florida. The Scout 150 wide receiver traveled up on Saturday night to Gainesville so that he may be able to watch the coaches in action during Sunday's camp.

“I think their camp is pretty stern but more to the point because they are there to teach guys and make them better," he explained.  "They are good teachers and they show me they can teach guys to be better players.”

Thompson is no stranger to the Swamp. The Armwood wide receiver has visited the Gators plenty in the last few months after establishing a close relationship with wide receivers coach, Kerry Dixon.

"We are really close and we talk all the time," he said. "He likes my route running and my frame that I have. He said I can take the top off a defense and help in the red zone."

Although Thompson did manage some time with Dixon over the weekend, a big piece of his visit was receiving some words from head coach Jim McElwain.

“It was good to talk to him and he just was asking me about my interest in them still and he told me how I would look good in that Orange and Blue when I commit there," said the four-star 2018 prospect. "He told me I am a top target for them.”

According to Thompson, he is planning to release a top two sometime soon, however, he is still unsure when he will make his commitment known.

“I have thought about maybe at the end of summer if I am ready but if it’s something I am not ready for then I will wait," he said. "I could wait until after my high school season too if I didn’t go it this summer.”

In order to ease into a decision, Thompson is planning to take a few more visits in the next few weeks. The wide out is set to visit North Carolina on June 17th, however, he has no other set plans at the moment. However, he does mention possible visits to Alabama, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and South Carolina.
