Florida is paying a lot of attention to wide receiver Richard Washington.
Folks in Fort Myers (Fla.) say that Richard Washington may be the city's top prospect since Deion Sanders. That says a lot considering Jevan Kearse hails from Fort Myers as well. Washington is a terrific athlete with good speed and quickness. He works hard both on and off the field and is very dangerous with the ball in his hands. This versatile athlete caught 5 passes for 77 yards last weekend in a 39-29 loss to Naples (Fla.) High School. He also threw for a touchdown pass and intercepted a pass for a touchdown. Washington, 6-1 and 170 pounds, runs in the mid-4.4 range and is one of the most coveted wideouts in the Sunshine State, in a year when the state of Florida is loaded with receivers.
"Ohio State is my leader," said Washington. "I would say that Florida and Georgia Tech are coming on strong. I am getting hand written letters from the Gator coaches once a week and they have coaches in the stands for every game. They and Georgia Tech are showing me a lot of attention. I would say that Florida State is falling because they have not been showing me any attention at all lately."
Washington will try to attend the Miami/FSU game in Tallahassee in October.
