Florida starting point guard Anthony Roberson has been suspended for three games for a violation of University rules, head coach Billy Donovan said Friday.

As a result, the sophomore will miss the Gators' two exhibition games and the season opener against Montana State on Nov. 25. He will make his season debut against Arizona on Nov. 28 – Florida's first anticipated game of the season.

"There are rules and regulations you have to follow at this school, and he didn't follow them," Donovan said. "He's apologized to me and to our team. It's something we're going to move forward on. I think he understands what's expected of him."

While the impact won't be critical, it could actually benefit some of the younger class.

Freshman Ryan Appleby will now see more action than initially expected. Donovan said Christian Drejer and Matt Walsh could also see time at the point while Roberson serves his punishment.

"It's not something that's devastating," Donovan said. "Obviously, it's disappointing. But we'll just move forward."
