Carter Commits to the Gators

Ryan Carter has committed to the Florida Gators. He is one of the top offensive line prospects from the state of Florida. Carter will play offensive guard for the UF.

"I committed to Florida at about one this afternoon," said offensive line prospect Ryan Carter. "I wanted to be a part of a powerhouse, I really like OL coach Jimmy Ray Stephens, and it is a place where I feel at home. Overall, Florida is the best opportunity for me."

Carter is a huge offensive guard prospect from Groveland (Fla.) Southlake High School. He recently injured his hand and actually had surgery today after his commitment to the Gators.

"I tripped in a hole and fell funny on my hand. My hand actually hit a log and I had minor surgery today. I should be OK in about a month."

Carter, 6-5 and 330 pounds, committed to Florida over Oklahoma, BYU, Auburn and Kansas State.

"It was a very tough decision. I prayed about it and just felt that I needed to get it done. Last night I got the feeling that I wanted to be a Florida Gator."

Carter carries a 3.8 grade point average and he has scored a 1020 SAT. He bench presses 450 and squats 600.
