The Universities of Miami and Florida have battled over many top-flight recruits in recent years with each team getting their share. They will once again do the same this season. One prospect that has wavered between the two that quickly comes to mind this recruiting season is wide receiver Lance Leggett from Arlington, Texas. Leggett just made his decision… did he pick the Hurricanes or Gators?
"I committed to Florida
," Leggett said. "I did it today and I am ready. It was hard to pass on Miami
but I did what I had to do. In the end I thought Florida was the best place for me. It really came down to (Chris) Leak and the education. Leak is such a student of the game and he looks to pass first and run second. He had a great freshman season. I know there is a real good chance that Florida could win the national championship real soon and while I am there."
Leggett is originally from Bartow, Florida and he has wanted to get back to the Sunshine State to play his college ball. His mom still lives in Bartow.
"I have always wanted to play college ball in Florida. I knew between Miami and Florida I couldn't go run and Bartow is not far from either school."
Leggett also visited Oklahoma, Purdue, and Texas A&M.
Leggett is the nation's No. 5 rated WR and a member of TheInsiders.com National Hot 100 (No. 31 overall).
