SC LB talks about UF trip

Florida is still hunting for some linebackers and this week Robert Ayers took his official visit to the University of Florida. Ayers talks about his trip and where UF stands.

Robert Ayers took his official visit this weekend to the Florida Gators. What did he think of Gainesville?

"It was fun," Ayers said. "I really like the environment. Florida is such a pretty place. They also need linebackers. You can see that. So I know there is a great opportunity for me there. If I pick Florida maybe I can be like Channing Crowder and make a big impact. I also like the coaches. They have class and they want to win."

Ayers, from Bennettsville (S.C.) Malboro County High School, has now visited South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee.

"I am scheduled to visit Florida State this weekend but I don't know if I will make it because I may decide this week. Right now, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee are my leaders. This is a lot harder than I thought."

Lou Holtz will have an in-home visit with Ayers on Monday and Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong will have an in-home visit with him on Tuesday.

Ayers finished the season with 112 tackles and five interceptions.
