Gainesville, Fla. - Remember that great feeling in 1996 when the Gators won the National Championship? Join celebrity hosts James Bates and Zach Piller as they begin a new Gator tradition with the inaugural MEGAbook Gators for Kids Classic. The two-day event will take place Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, 2004 at the University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville. This exciting weekend honoring the '96 National Champions will include former Gator greats Jeff Mitchell, Teako Brown, Anthone Lott, Zach Zedalis, Danny Wuerffel and many more.

"We are so excited by the outstanding response we have gotten from former Gator athletes and most particularly the players from the 1996 National Championship team," said Casey Smith, event director. "I think this is the first time the guys have been back together for a reunion and it is for such a good cause."

Weekend festivities include a Carrabba's Italian Grill dinner and silent auction Friday night at the Touchdown Terrace at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Two separate rounds of golf will be hosted by Gator athletes on Saturday at the UF Golf Course. Proceeds from the event help support The Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County and the Gainesville Sun's Newspapers in Education program.
