Georgia Speedster Names Two Leaders

When Stuart Gorrell wrote "Georgia on my mind," he must have been thinking of Florida's Ron Zook. The Gators' skipper made a wide and sweeping tour of the peach state last week dropping off scholarship offers to some of the state's brightest stars in the Class of '05. One of his destinations was Atlanta's Banneker High School where he stopped in to see standout WR/CB Carlos Thomas.

"Coach Zook came to my school sometime last week. He told my coach they were offering a scholarship, and I was really excited about that. Florida was one of the teams I really liked growing up," Carlos Thomas.

Florida is the first team to offer Thomas, who now names a pair of leaders.

"Clemson and Florida are my favorites. I also like Georgia, LSU, and Florida State."

Why are the Tigers and Gators on top?

"I really like the coaches at Clemson. They have a fun environment down there and they have a lot of receivers leaving. Florida is not very deep at receiver either, and I like the location that the school is in."

Carlos is versatile enough to play wide receiver or fill a spot in the defensive backfield at the next level.

"Just about everybody is recruiting me to play wide receiver but Georgia and LSU are recruiting me for cornerback. If I have a choice, I think I would probably rather play wide receiver."

What is Thomas looking for most in a school?

"Mainly I'm just looking at depth and playing time. I've already started to look at some of the team's depth charts."

The Trojans star will be in attendance at TheInsiders/MSL Combine in Atlanta on May 1st-2nd.
