RECRUITING: Quentin Taylor talks recruiting

We talked to Apopka High School's Quentin Taylor tonight and the talented LB/FB with 15 scholarship offers is not one for many words. This team oriented player is one to watch out for in the near future.

Quentin Taylor LB/FB

Quentin is currently living with his grandparents and a younger sister, and spends his free time watching a little television. "I like to watch BET.". He honed his skills playing on the gridiron telling me, "I spent 10 or 11 years playing Pop Warner and school grade football."

So what about the Apopka Blue Darters this year? "We have a lot of new guys in new positions, but we should be alright." He didn't want to put a limit on team goals so he just said, "We want to work hard every play."

Of his personal goals, "I want to average 2 TD's, and a 100 yards on offense, and 10 tackles on defense." What kind of off-season work will he do to attain these goals? "I work out with the team on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week. I also do some extra conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday."

Quentin isn't quite sure about a college destination yet. His coach, Ty Enson, will certainly be of assistance. "He will do anything to help me." When asked about his favorite college team growing up the reply was, "…..probably Florida State." So are they favorites? "I don't have any favorites right now. I have 15 scholarship offers from places as far as Maryland." How about the Big – 3 in Florida? "None of the Florida schools have offered yet."

So, when it comes down to the final decision, what are the deciding factors going to be? "Well, my education is real important, and I want to probably major in Business. I want to be on a team with a winning tradition and a team I can feel comfortable with." What about playing time? "Yes, I really want to play right away."

Be on the look out for this guy. The Big-3 aren't knocking down his door right now, but in due time they will be. I know a couple in particular that can offer early playing time.
