Justin attended the Florida camp and we were able to see him first hand. On film he is fast as any lineman you will see in high school. Seeing him in person, it is amazing how big he is to be able to move that fast. He had a great camp at Florida and we asked the 6-6, 255 pound defensive end what he thought and he said "The Florida camp was very good, pretty fun. Coach Fedora was pretty cool."
Justin is a force as a pass rusher. He is a big body defensive end type that could move inside in long down and distance situations, but he is very quick and fast and should rush the passer. Of his own talents he states, "I mainly am a pass rusher, but I love to clog the whole on a run block. I love situations like 4th and 1, or 4th and 2. Those situations show what kind of character you have, what kind of heart you have." Here we have a big bodied guy that can run very well but loves to stick his nose in there. On his position of choice in college he said, "I have to say defensive end. I plan on getting bigger and faster."
We asked Justin about the rumors of a commitment in the very near future. He denied that and had a list of schools ready that he likes. "Florida, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU and Notre Dame are some pretty good schools I am interested in." Are there at least any favorites? "It's pretty much wide open but I'm leaning towards Florida just a little bit." What schools are doing their homework and making sure Justin knows they are interested? "Florida and Georgia are recruiting me the hardest." As for deciding factors, "My education, it's the main thing. I am going to major in Marine Biology or Biology." Talking to Justin, it sure seems that he has his head on straight.
We know that he isn't ready now, but we asked Justin for a timetable for his commitment. "I am going to wait till the end of my senior year, that's when I will make my pick. I should make a couple of visits during the season, but I am going to wait till January to decide."
Justin Mincey is a heck of a player that is garnering much attention from the best of schools. The Gators have the slightest of leads right now, but there is a lot of time and recruiting left. He seems grounded and knows what he wants. He won't rush to make a decision and has a bright future ahead of him.
