Dickey is a Winner

Gavin Dickey helped guide Lincoln to another state title. The quarterback from Tallahassee will visit Gainesville this weekend for an official visit with the Gators.

Gavin Dickey is a winner. The quarterback from Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln High School has now won the state championship twice. Last Thursday, he helped led Lincoln to their second title in three years by beating Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Acquinas 28-20. In that game, Dickey threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another. Overall, he was 43-5 as a starter including a playoff record of 15-2.

"Man I have been here long," said Dickey. "I brought more leadership this season and hopefully it rubbed off on the younger guys. I hope it started a Lincoln tradition."

Gavin, 6-0 and 190 pounds, will visit Florida this weekend, Miami (1-18) and Southern Cal (1-25). He has already tripped to Notre Dame.

"I really like the offense Florida runs. I love that style and I really believe Coach Spurrier is the best coach. He is a perfectionist that pushes his quarterbacks. That is how I want to be coached."

Dickey's last visit will go to Georgia Tech, Clemson, Alabama, Florida State or Syracuse.

"I had a visit set up for Georgia Tech but now I will wait and see what happens with them. I just want to find a school that will give me a fair shot at quarterback."
