Some feel that safety is the next position for Barnes, but he seems fairly set on playing wide receiver at the next level. He said that all the programs recruiting him have all offered him at the wide receiver position. Mississippi State, Florida, Louisville, North Carolina UCF, MTSU, and Georgia Tech are among the list of offers for Barnes. When asked about his top schools, he offered: "Florida, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Tennessee. Florida and Mississippi State are at the top. Co-number ones." He also told us that Georgia was his favorite school growing up and that Auburn is a program from which he would like to hear.
We asked Anthony what he felt were his strengths and weaknesses as a wide receiver. On his strengths he says, "My heart, really. I don't care about where the ball is at, I'll go get it for you." As for his weaknesses, "My speed. That's about it." Anthony did tell us that he has been working out with a strength coach to improve his speed and tells us that it is coming along well. He hasn't been re-timed in the forty-yard dash, but he feels like he a little faster now than he has been.
Barnes and his team have lofty expectations for the season. "A championship." However, they hit a small bump by losing their first game of the season. Barnes is also an accomplished basketball player but when asked about whether or not basketball will affect his decision, he said it was all football. When asked whether he planned on attending any games this year he said, "MS State, Georgia Tech, and Florida/ Tennessee." He also said that he is on track to graduate on time and plans on leaving his recruiting open at this time.
