Fred Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars Taylor stepped up when the Jaguars needed him, gaining 66 yards on 19 carries and 71 yards on 3 receptions, one of which was a touchdown catch of 64 yards. Every week Fred appears to be getting closer and closer to his old form and showing signs of the greatness he's always been capable of. As long as he can stave off injury, we should only see his numbers continue to improve.
Jack Youngblood Award - Top Defensive Performer
Mike Peterson, Jacksonville Jaguars Peterson had his most impressive defensive performance of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs. He had 6 tackles, 1 assist, a sack, and a forced fumble. Mr. Two Bits Award
Lito Sheppard, Philadelphia Eagles Sheppard had 2 interceptions in the Eagles 30-8 win over the Carolina Panthers, one returned 64 yards for a touchdown. All of this on top of the fact that Sheppard predicted earlier in the week that he would have 2 interceptions in this game. Apparently the Panthers decided it was a good idea to make that prediction come true.
The Red Zone
Lito Sheppard, Philadephia Eagles Sheppard wins this award for the way he made people miss on the way to the end zone on his interception return. He ran down the left sideline, making some nifty moves to avoid being tackled, and waited for his blocks to have a clear path to a touchdown. It was like watching him return punts for the Gators again.
I Wish I Were Back In Hogtown….
Reche Caldwell, San Diego Chargers Caldwell was taken off the field on a cart early in the first quarter in the Chargers game against Atlanta. The injury to his knee will cause him to miss the rest of the 2004 season. It's a shame because Caldwell really looked as if he were going to have a breakout season.
