New Leader for Top Alabama TE?

Gabe McKenzie is absolutely one of the best players in the country and any number of teams would love to have him on their roster. Florida was an early leader, Auburn had caught them, and now one team is out in front. Who does he like the most at this moment?

"I like Auburn, Miami, Georgia and I'm going to still look at Florida too I guess. Auburn is my leader," Gabe McKenzie said.

What stands out about the Tigers?

"Since the new coordinator came in, the plays to the tight end and all the motion just gives you something to do all the time. They're playing real well, and I think I would be featured in their offense."

What about the other teams on his list?

Miami: "That's where all the big tight ends come from. The top 3 in the NFL all came from there."

Georgia: They have a good tight end program too, and I'll probably take a visit there."

Florida: "Everything over there is brand new, and they have great facilities."

How has the recent coaching controversy in Gainesville affected his view on Florida?

"At one point they were my leader and this has just kind of messed up everything. I was really close to the staff over there and I'm going to still look at the school, but this has hurt them."

What is McKenzie looking for most in a school?

"First I'm going to get an education and after that I want to see where I can get some playing time. I also want a place that will let me play my position."

Is there any timetable for a decision at this time?

"I'm trying to wait it all out and just see what happens. I know I'm probably going to take official visits to all those schools I named plus Florida State also."

How has his senior football season gone to this point?

"Were 8-2 and tied for first in the region. My stats aren't real good because I've caught a lot of screens and stuff, but I have like 10 catches for about 100 and something yards."
