Florida Gator Football

Some curses still stand
At about 11 p.m. each night, you will find free safety Jarvis Herring eating two bowls of cereal, one of Apple Jacks and one of Honey Nut Cheerios, while laying in bed channel flipping.

Coach search to take time
Steve Spurrier's return remains a possibility but the university says there's no rush to make a decision.

Gators wants to beat No. 10 Georgia for the Zooker
When athletic director Jeremy Foley fired Ron Zook, he also asked him to coach Florida's remaining four games.

'Dogs' top dog
Uga more than college mascot ... he's a celebrity

Bulldogs want more than dreaded 13
Georgia has produced just 13 points in each of their last two losses against Florida.

Uga VI: Can't beat pampering
After weeks of sniffing around, Times-Union sports writer Michael DiRocco finally was able to locate Uga VI and convince the English Bulldog, after promises of a Gator chew toy and 10 bags of Purina, to grant an interview.

Zook's assistants try to keep focus
Coaches have no easy answers on what they'll do in dealing with angry, hurt players.

UF statement: Nationwide search under way
UF released a statement on Thursday to quell rumors about the school's next coach.

Local media going all out for Georgia-Florida
The electronic media in Jacksonville will hold little back today in building interest for Saturday's Georgia-Florida tilt in Alltel Stadium. All of the top-rated radio shows will vacate their studio offices and will relocate to areas where there will be an abundance of Bulldogs and Gators fans. Included among the coverage plans:

Spurrier called Gators for job
Sources said Steve Spurrier called to say he was interested in the coaching vacancy, and he was given two weeks to think about it.

Gators Unable To Pass One-Question Quiz
They have sworn with oaths and with four-letter words.

Spurrier return would take time
Hiring Steve Spurrier to rescue Florida football isn't as imminent as some fans might hope, a source close to the search process said Tuesday.

Zook's friend knew the UF job was risky
And that's why he never wanted Zook to be hired as Florida's football coach.

Lame-duck situation puts coach in precarious position
Undermined by a dissatisfied faction of trustees, school officials and fans, Terry Bowden no longer was wanted at Auburn in the fall of 1998.

Florida Gator Basketball

Gators Are No. 22 In Coaches' Poll
The nation's men's basketball coaches apparently disagree with University of Florida forward David Lee. In the first installment of the coaches' poll, released Monday, the Gators were ranked No. 22. That's well below where Lee believes Florida belongs, but Lee understands that the Gators can rise in the polls if leaders emerge.
