Nelson, who has grown an inch and put on about 20 lbs. since graduating from Palm Bay Senior High, said he's checking in at 6'1" 195 lbs.
The commotion in Gainesville over the firing of Coach Zook and his staff has sent waves through the recruiting world, but Nelson said his commitment to Florida is strong.
"I think it is messed up what happened to Coach Zook and his staff," he said. "I'm still going to go there though; it's where I want to be."
Reggie Nelson and his Coffeyville JUCO team have been had their hands full with opposing teams, but still have only lost one game with Nelson grabbing five interceptions on the year, he said.
"I haven't talked to Joe [Cohen] lately," Nelson said. "I just have to come in and play for whoever the coach is and I want to fight for my position."
The dismissal of the coaching staff came as a surprise to Nelson, who said he really did enjoy talking with them.
"I'm just really excited to get my JUCO over with so I can look towards the future in Gainesville," he added.
With his commitment solid, I asked Reggie to give a few words to those in Gator Nation that were looking forward for his arrival. He cracked a laugh and gave these words of inspiration.
"Awww man, I just want to come in and help the team in anyway possible," Nelson said. "When I come, I'm going to give 100 percent to helping the team improve."
