Vols making strong push for Zook's early verbals

The University of Tennessee is making a strong push to get as many of Ron Zook's early verbal commitments at Florida to join each other in Knoxville next weekend for the Vols game against Notre Dame.

Word is that Tennessee coaches have contacted several Florida commits, including Vladimir Richard, Gerald Williams, Avery Atkins, Louis Murphy, and possibly Bryan Evans for a Saturday afternoon trip to Knoxville. Tennessee coaches are asking the recruits to join recent commit and All-American Demetrice Morley in suiting up for the Orange and White.

Coach Phil Fulmer and the Vols are banking on a full house and the allure that is Notre Dame, to make for a tremendous afternoon of excitement on the banks of the Tennessee River. Truth be known though, the Fighting Irish football program is a mess. They have dropped their last two home contests to Purdue 41-16 and Boston College 24-23. Furthermore, the Irish received zero votes in last week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll. Zero votes in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Poll. The alternate top story on the school's official website hails Regis Philbin's arrival at the team luncheon on October 22nd. Will recruits buy into all of this excitement? We'll see.

Another coach who is dialing in on Florida's early verbals is North Carolina State's Chuck Amato. He has contacted Vladimir Richard and Gerald Williams hoping to get into the former Florida verbals sweepstakes, as well.

Regardless, of your feelings toward Coach Ron Zook and staff every Florida fan will be pulling for them to keep these prized recruits with an eye toward Gainesville.
