"I'm about 65% Committed"

Gerald Williams was one of a handful of early commitments garnered by Ron Zook and his staff before they were fired by the Florida administration over a week ago. With the coaching situation in Gainesville now up in the air, will Williams look into other options or remain strongly in the Orange and Blue fold?

"Florida is still pretty much in the lead, but this whole thing has opened up more doors. I'm still committed to Florida, but I'd say I'm about 65% committed at this time," Gerald Williams said.

What has kept Florida on top?

"I just like the atmosphere. It's not too city and not too country, so I feel I can fit right in there. If Spurrier comes he would bring his experience from the NFL, and I think it would help them out a long ways."

Just as his close friend and fellow recruit Vladimir Richard mentioned to me earlier this week, Florida assistant Bill Miller is someone that Williams would like to see retained when the new coaching staff is finally announced.

"Coach Miller has really made a big difference for them. He doesn't bluff you, and I heard that from the players themselves. He's one of the main reasons I committed to Florida."

Which other schools still remain in contention to track down the Gators?

"I'm still looking at Tennessee, N.C. State, Ohio State and LSU also. I've set up a visit to Tennessee this weekend and I'll visit N.C. State, Florida and Auburn as well. The fifth visit is pretty much wide open right now."

Gerald has been a menace on the field thus far in his senior season.

"My season is going real good. Were 6-2 and we've had a great week of practice. I have 116 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 touchdowns, 6 sacks and 3 forced fumbles so far."
