Ronnie Wilson Commits to the Gators

As first reported earlier today in our popular and busy chat room: Ronnie Wilson, the intimidating force on the offensive line at Pompano Beach Blanche Ely, has made his choice where he will be playing football next season and the 6-4, 335-pound dominator has committed to the Florida Gators.

"I already committed to Florida," Wilson told Gator Country on the telephone Wednesday evening. "It's pretty much where I felt the most comfortable." Wilson committed to Coach Joe Wickline and the Florida Gators over North Carolina State and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Apparently the coaching situation was of little importance to Wilson. In fact, he felt it was a bonus for him. "I see it as an advantage to me because when a new coach comes in they won't have [preset opinions] on the position," he said.

Wilson and his team are still in the playoffs as they play Orlando Edgewater in Friday night's regional finals for a trip to Gainesville and the Class 6A State championship. Wilson is one of the nation's best offensive linemen, recently named to the Army All-American game to be held in January.

Congratulations to Ronnie on his commitment and welcome to the Gator Nation!
