RECRUITING: UF in Derrick Williams' Final Three

The number one rated football prospect in the nation has it down to three schools and the Florida Gators are one of the three, but that's about all Derrick Williams has to say about things.

"My dad just wants me to keep things among family and close friends until next week when I announce what I'm doing," said Derrick Wednesday afternoon. "I hope you'll understand, but we have to make a big decision."

Derrick Williams is a 6-0, 193-pound wide receiver from Greenbelt (MD) Eleanor Roosevelt, and he will be announcing his final decision on ESPN next week, but until that decision, he'll simply talk it over with family, friends and the coaches of the three schools on his list.

He had an in-home visit with Coach Urban Meyer Wednesday night, and while he wouldn't talk specifics of the meeting or about Coach Meyer, he said the meeting went very well.

"I like Coach Meyer a lot, and all I can tell you is that it was a good meeting," said Williams.

His final three?

"I'm not going to say everyone, just that Florida's one of them," he said.

Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Miami have been among the many teams that have been in the running for Williams' talents. Florida signed Derrick Harvey from Williams' high school last year. Harvey was rated the top defensive end recruit in the nation.
