Gators in the NFL: Week 14 Performance Awards

Get the latest scoop on the Gators in the NFL and who performed the best!

Emmitt Smith Award: Top Offensive Performer

Darrell Jackson, Seattle Seahawks

In what may have been the best performance of his five-year NFL career, Jackson had 10 catches for 135 yards and one touchdown. What makes this stand out even more is that Jackson learned of his father's death from cancer just hours before the game. He made outstanding catches throughout the game and it was obvious that he was a man playing with a purpose. His father would have most certainly been proud of him.

Jack Youngblood Award: Top Defensive Performer

Mike Peterson, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville finally played in a game where the winner wasn't decided in the last minute, and a big reason for that was Jacksonville's defense overall. Peterson was once again a leader of that defense with four tackles, one assist, and a sack. He and the defense swarmed over a hapless Bears offense and put them in a position to contend for a playoff spot.

Mr. Two Bits Award

Fred Taylor, Jacksonville Jaguars

Taylor had yet another solid game for the Jaguars, gaining 79 yards on 21 carries and another 23 yards on four receptions in their win over the Bears, 22-3. Since finally overcoming the injury that hampered his play early in the season, Taylor has come on strong the last several weeks and become the back that the Jaguars can rely on for a strong performance week after week.

The Red Zone

Darrell Jackson, Seattle Seahawks

Jackson broke open in the left corner of the end zone, giving Seattle a 21-10 lead over Minnesota in the second quarter. This catch was only two plays after he caught a 17-yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck while Minnesota cornerback Brian Williams was draped all over him.
