"Our flight was kind of delayed, so we went straight to dinner with the coaches and Coach Meyer," said Wilson. "The next day we saw all of the facilities and the locker room. Throughout the day we saw The Swamp and some other sites around Gainesville and talked to some players. I talked to Chris Leak, some offensive linemen, and some receivers."
Wilson's parents made the trip as well and came away equally impressed.
"It went good," said Mr. Wilson. "We were with Coach Meyer and Coach Mattison. It [the campus] was nice, especially coming from Ohio in January and going down there with 80 degree weather."
Mr. Wilson also gave a little insight as to Lawrence's decision-making process.
"Every school he's looking at is good, and they are all good programs," he said. "He's not going to compare this school is better than that school. He's going to pick a school because he's comfortable there."
Like any parents, Wilson's folks would love if he were close to home, but that they will defer to whatever proves the best situation for Lawrence.
"We were very comfortable with Coach Meyer and the coaching staff," he said. "He (Meyer) was very impressive. You know, it all depends on Lawrence. If he wants to go there we will work around that [the distance issue]."
Lawrence Wilson came away from the visit impressed with Meyer.
"I really liked Coach Meyer," he said. "Some of the conversations we had were real good. I really got a good feeling about him. I really liked him."
Wilson said a written offer of a scholarship is on the way and should arrive soon.
One of the highlights of the trip was a night time visit to The Swamp.
"I really liked it," he said. "It was the second day around six-thirty or seven o'clock at night. They had the highlight tape playing from the last season. I really enjoyed it. They had the lights off and the tape going."
Wilson plans to make his final decision at the end of January. He's got Ohio State and Florida at the top but he is taking a trip to Michigan so the Wolverines remain a possibility. Whatever school that lands him will do so because he's got a comfort level unlike any other.
"Basically, the school I am going to pick is the school I am probably the most comfortable with," he said. "That is going to be the deciding factor."
