"I have talked to three or four coaches (tonight)," he said, "but, even more (calls) with all of the recruiting services calling."
Some of the more recent interviews have been done with a spin that would indicate that he's a lean to Florida State, but Demps discounts that, saying "Nah, nah. I am still open."
He's studied Florida's depth chart and he finds that appealing enough that he'll give the Gators the very last shot at impressing him enough to secure his signature on signing day.
"I am coming up there [Gainesville] on the 28th," he said. "They don't have that many linebackers, I know that. It's a good situation to come into playing in the SEC."
Demps has become friends with some prominent recruits who have committed to the Gators or have UF listed as the favorite. His visit to Gainesville will coincide with that of "Avery Atkins (Daytona Beach Mainland) and his teammate Matt Lewis and a couple of more dudes will be coming up there.
He is trying to keep all things even until he finishes up his final two visits.
"The table is all even," he said. "I have Auburn this week and Florida on the 28th and then we can decide."
The Gators fell off the Demps radar back in October, but Coach Urban Meyer and his staff are working hard to reel him in. Since linebacker is such a position of need, expect the Gators to make every effort to ensure that when Jon Demps visits on January 28, he will see the very best that Florida has to offer.
