Friedman Commits to Alabama

Having a good kicker is integral to the success of a football team. With the Gators graduating their kickers, this is a definite position of need. One of the top prospects on the UF board has now taken his name off of the list.

This weekend Andrew Friedman, a 6-2, two star kicker from Mobile, Alabama committed to the University of Alabama.

"I committed to Coach [Dave] Unger," Friedman said. Friedman rattled off a myriad of reason for choosing the home state school. "I've grown up with Alabama my whole life. It's the state school. We go to their games all of the time. I like the tradition. It's close to home and I have friends there. After college, the connections will be good for me. The facilities they have now are as nice as I've seen anywhere."

On the coaching staff Friedman had some frank comments. "I like Coach Shula a lot. He's been honest with me regarding their kicking situation. I've had some schools say one thing and then do another."

Friedman is certainly looking forward to his new journey in Tuscaloosa. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to compete. I seem to get along with the guys there real well."

Over the course of the recruiting process, I have had the opportunity to get to know Andrew rather well. He and his family are terrific people and Alabama secured a gem in this recruiting class. I wish the best of luck to Andrew at Alabama and tremendous success.
