RECRUITING: Roberts visits UF Friday, UF is leader

Orlando Edgewater's All-State defensive back Tyller Roberts enjoyed the warmth of Miami during his preparation for the CalifFlorida All-Star Game. This past weekend, Roberts visited Raleigh, where he experienced a hard freeze and some of the white stuff.

"I visited N.C. State last weekend," Roberts said. "I didn't fly back until 10 o'clock Monday morning. The trip was okay. The academics are pretty strong. The athletics facilities were nice.

"Coach Amato offered me a scholarship in his office. He said that it's a great opportunity to play. It snowed a little in Raleigh this weekend. It was cold, and I must have caught something, because I've been sick since I got back. It was my second time ever being in the snow. I'm not too sure about that stuff."

He was supposed to meet today with University of Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong who was in Orlando. The Gators are currently focusing on three Edgewater players: Roberts, Quentin Brown, and Matt Hardrick.

"Coach Strong was at school today (Tuesday), but I've been sick and didn't go to school," he confirmed. "I didn't speak with him at all. I know that he spoke with Matt (Hardrick) and Quentin (Brown). I'm leaving for Gainesville on Friday and will stay the entire weekend. I'm looking forward to it."

Roberts also cleared up some confusion about his ACT test scores.

"I'm close on the ACT," he said. "It's just one section of the test that I have to score four more points on. I'm getting some help with that. I hope to take care of it the next time I take the test"

He also made it clear that he would love to play for the Gators. Tyller Roberts has been looking forward to this trip since the Eagles completed their season in Gainesville. For the past two years, Edgewater has sadly ended their season in the state championship game on the University of Florida campus. There is no question that he would like to leave Hogtown on a happy note.

"Florida is my leader," Roberts pointed out. "I've been saying that I want to stay in state to play. Hopefully, the visit will be great. I would say that N.C. State is number two right now."
