RECRUITING: Gerald Williams reschedules UF visit

Gerald Wiliams won't be making it into Gainesville to visit the University of Florida this weekend with his good buddy Vlad Richard, but he's got good reasons.

"I am staying here and taking the SAT," said Williams, the 6-5, 225-pound linebacker from Fort Lauderdale Boyd Anderson.

Richard, the big defensive end from Sunrise Piper, will make it to Gainesville but Williams will be coming in January 28. Williams committed to Florida back in the summer after the Rising Senior Camp at UF. He says he is still committed to Florida but claims a top four of Florida, NC State, Georgia and Auburn.

Since Coach Urban Meyer became the Florida coach, Williams has been recruited by co-defensive coordinator Charlie Strong and linebackers coach Doc Holliday.

"They are pretty cool," he said. "I don't know a whole lot about them, but what I have heard, they are pretty nice."

Gerald Williams is presently making his mark on Boyd Anderson's basketball team. He's a power forward known for his defense and rebounding.

"We are going to win the state," he said. "I am averaging 12 points and 11 rebounds a game."

Not the most outspoken of players, Gerald Williams is nonetheless one of the most important pieces to the recruiting puzzle for the Florida Gators in 2005. He will be coming in on the busiest recruiting weekend of the year for the Gators and should help close out a pretty good recruiting year for the new staff.
