Brian Roche Visits UF This Weekend

Offensive lineman Brian Roche of Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco Prep will be one of about 17 visitors to the Florida Gators this weekend. Roche is one of the few offensive linemen remaining on the Gator recruiting board. It's a position of need for Florida and Roche is ready to check out the Gators to see if he can be a part of the UF recruiting class of 2005.

He will be leaving late morning and arriving in Gainesville with his father on the visit. He is still quite uncertain about where he will be spending the next several years of his life but he is ready to be impressed.

"I am coming up with an open mind and see what Florida has to offer me," he said. "I want to enjoy myself and just go from there."

Coach Steve Addazio has been the primary recruiter for Roche since he came to Florida from the University of Indiana. He has been a familiar visitor to Roche.

"Coach Addazio has been here a few times," Roche said. "I think they (Coaches Urban Meyer and Addazio) are coming up next week for a visit. I like him and he has been pretty successful as a coach."

Of the teams he has visited he has one favorite, but not by much.

"Right now I'd say that Louisville is my leader because it is the top school I have seen," he said, "but it really is very close."

The 6-5, 280-pound lineman is also good friends with Bergen (NJ) Catholic's All-America linebacker Brian Cushing who is scheduled to arrive for his official visit to UF on Sunday.

Roche could help add some beef into the recruiting class at this stage of the game. With only two offensive linemen committed, there is a spot in this class ready for him to take.
