O.J. Murdock to commit to UF if visit goes well

OJ Murdock, the mercurial wide receiver from Tampa Middleton, is ready to pull the trigger on a scholarship offer from Coach Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators when he visits Gainesville this weekend.

In a conversation with Gator Country Tuesday evening, Murdock stated that if everything checks out in Gainesville this weekend he will go ahead and make a public commitment to the Gators. Murdock said that he is a lifetime Florida fan who has always wanted to be a Gator. The weekend trip, he said, is simply an exercise to be certain that he's making the right choice and that he will know for sure once he's talked to coaches, toured the campus, visited with the academic support people, etc.

Murdock has been rumored to have some grade issues but he said that he's retaken the SAT and he's quite confident that he has made a qualifying score.

The 6-0, 185-pounder, will be allowed to run track and play football while at Florida. He has been electronically timed at 10.3 seconds in the 100-meter dash. He's the son of Calvin Murdock, who played college football at Troy State and in the NFL with the New England Patriots.

Gator Country will be providing an indepth interview with O.J. Murdock later this evening.
