RECRUITING: Phillips still solid to Hurricanes

Randy Phillips, ranked the number 16 safety in the nation by, made two abridged visits to the University of Florida and Florida State with only three days left till signing day. A long time commitment to the Miami Hurricanes, Phillips made the trips to get one final look at what two-thirds of the Sunshine State's big three had to offer.

"I didn't have a host while I was there," said Randy Phillips, who is from Belle Glade (FL) Glades Central. "The campus and everything at Florida was alright to me."

Phillips, who received an in-home visit from Coach Urban Meyer early in January, spent about a day in Gainesville before making the trip further north to Tallahassee.

"[Meyer] is a good person and is pretty energetic," Phillips said. "I'm still a solid commitment to the Hurricanes."

While earlier on the day Phillips gave his visit to Gainesville, a seven out of ten, he didn't want to give anymore rankings about UF or FSU, he said.

"As of right now, I intend to sign with Miami on National Signing Day," Phillips said.

GATOR COUNTRY TAKE: He says he's firm to Miami, but don't be surprised if this ends up a signing day surprise for FSU. He's best buddies with Antone Smith, though, and if Antone chooses Miami, that's where you will find Phillips.
