SIGNEE SPOTLIGHT: Codrington ready to bulk up

Offensive lineman Simon Codrington signed with the Florida Gators on National Signing Day but not before a little bit of drama. Codrington came down to the wire spurning the Florida State Seminoles in favor of the orange and blue. In the end, it was the atmosphere and program that sold him on signing on the dotted line for Coach Urban Meyer and the Gators.

"The Gators were the best overall program and they offered the best overall package," Codrington said Friday night. "When I signed, the coaches told me to get ready to work and they are going to send me my packet saying how I should work out."

Codrington has the frame for what could be a dominating tackle at the next level. At 6-7, 270 pounds, the lineman from South Miami Senior High is already focusing on bulking up.

"I want to get bigger and stronger so I could get ready to play," he said. "I'll probably be redshirting my freshman year, but I look to be starting my redshirt freshman year, because their two tackles are seniors now."

With the burden off his massive shoulders of deciding a school, it seems as if Codrington is ready to hit the ground running.

"I'm going to eat right things, get bigger, stronger and faster, basically do anything I can to help the team," Codrington said. "I want to talk to the people playing in front of me, because they are starting for a reason, and I'm sure they can help me become better."

Simon Codrington is fully qualified and is one that the coaching staff and Gator fans will be looking forward to see him develop into an outstanding prospect.
